One of the other convicts in the prison bus, Kyle Harmon, doesn't now it yet, but he's Horatio's teenage son, naturally drawn to him, spontaneously asks to be brought in by him and takes his advice how to behave in jail, but an inmate who knows about Kyle's cop father has evil plans, while Horatio is more determined then ever to solve the case and help his boy by having his team examine all persons present. Jessica was deep in debt with Keith Reynolds's company. A vision of Eric's late mentor, Tim Speedle, leads to the discovery of the tube and rug used to murder them, with loan-shark Gary Hardwick's fingerprints. Retired star quarterback Doug McClain chokes to death during a phone call with flirt Wendy Legassic, his neck artery is cut with surgical precision, as if he didn't fight back. His widow uses a court injunction to prevent an autopsy, arguing that would compromise Doug's cryogenics, while any delay compromises an autopsy. Meanwhile several combined scans perform a 'virtual autopsy'. Only a few memorabilia were stolen from Doug's villa, and offered for sale on Internet by his former business manager Martin Wilson, who has a black eye fitting the bruises on Doug's hand, but claims an alibi. Wendy was in fact a reporter examining celebrity cryogenics and is forced to admit she was at Doug's; TV channel WTEX airs a sound recording of the murder on her phone, getting her arrested for obstruction. Joe also has a son Scott from an earlier marriage, who changed his name and is under top-secret FBI surveillance, but Special agent Mike Farallon acquits a personal debt by giving the team informal access to the observation DVDs... Father Partney has no idea why Brian took that elevator, nor how he or the kid's adoring younger brother Shane could have anything to do with a gang. New Yorkers Mitch Pena and his younger girl-friend Amy Hobbs claim they were on the beach, but earlier Amy had given the cutie her key; when the boy came over for frisky fun, Mitch barged in and just threw startled Brian out. A blood stain in the car shows the fugitive is triple assault convict Pete Morton, whose Smith and Wesson was used to fire at Duquesne, he confesses; the driver is Mark Boyd. However autopsy shows Gaynor was previously internally decapitated. Stetler finds six drinks on Duquense's bar bill, four were actually ordered earlier by colleague Jake Berkeley. DNA from the blood identifies three mashed-up gun runners: Hector Malcas, Eddie Padura and Pedro Rupan. There is also a cigarette with prints from Gabriel Soto. ATF sends Customs official Tanya Thorpe, who confirms there was a secret operation to trick illegal arms sale to the Middle East. However the vaporizer was being produced by Peregrine, which enjoyed special immunity to defend the top-secret project under the Patriot Act. Next its CEO Steve Lancaster is found dead, shot with a Sentry (miniature stun-gun) before a fatal air injection; he has a Navy SEAL tattoo. On Heming's partially burned corps Eric finds a melted bug and a partial print of her brother Zach, who claims he came from Ohio to get her out of the crime life but just left when she refused. The bug's serial number leads to FBI agent Mike Farallon, who confirms she became his informant to escape a dealer conviction; Mike's wife Linda knew he slept around, as his former colleague Natalia Boa Vista, who recontacts the one he did three years ago before she came to CSI. Someone switched the memory card with pictures on Calleigh's camera for use on laid-off CSI analyst Dan Cooper's website, exposing her allegedly systematic CSI bumbling. Delko and sergeant Frank Tripp trace Kathleen's stolen SunPass to trucker Ted Wallace. He says he found it in a toilet with traces of chloroform and the blood of ex-con Ron Saris, once Julia's fraud accomplice. After Horatio refuses Kyle's plea to let off Jula, she finds a legal way to get rid of her ex, all the way to Brazil. Calleigh's captor Seth McAdams and his henchman Tommy need her to cover up a murder even beyond her colleagues' forensic skills, so her goals is to outsmart them by leaving hidden clues for Horatio. Lawyer Sean Radley is killed by a speeding car, but his splintered bones cut up a bio-diesel supply line, which is traced to a car rented by his wife Deborah, who knew about his infidelity but denies, daughter Hannah had access to the keys. Both Sean and the next victim, snipered Tony Massaro, were 'exposed' by a TV program which claims to catch pedophiles in the act, in fact rather entrapment by a fake girl. During a race duel Jeff Lanier's car falls trough the highway- into a tunnel, where bank-robbers abandoned the collapse-killed assistant manager Lori Stoltz, shot. Fingerprints point to drugs ex-con Santiago. The tunnel started at citrus magnate Charles Brighton's nearby construction site. He had an affair with Lori. The bomb is typical for Freddie Mays. He admits they were hired and lead by Dan Kirkland, who is shot resisting arrest, then says Lori hired him. The crucial loot was not valuables -even cash was left behind- but a video recording of Brighton's daughter Amanda in bed with Carlos Santiago -not her fiancé-, from his bank locker. While jet-ski racing in Miami harbor with Mary Landis, who says they met that morning, Jim Farber, just released after 8 years jail, is fatally hit in the head by a fairly rare Flagstone slate from a bridge above and falls off. He was on pills, Y2K drugs which were confiscated years ago, making them got hem jailed. A marking traces the customer-made garden slate to Henry Woods, Alexx's ex who denies any knowledge, so she questions their son Bryan. Henry finds a cigarette bud there, from Bryan's white teenage friend Trey Holt, whose juvenile record shows throwing a rock trough a window. Next Brian calls in panic from a warehouse, in a pool of blood from Trey's body, saying he just pulled he knife out as his friend begged. Yet after her arrival Bryan runs, is caught with drugs he was 'just throwing away', refuses to say whom he got the poison from. The knife has Mary's DNA, she confesses the stabbing as drugs-related. Miami PD Commander Briggs's SWAT team, responding swiftly to a call, shoots the villa owner Michael Maddox. He was just carrying a kitchen-knife for self-defense, no crime had been committed. The call is traced to the home of Neil Jackson, against whom Michael had a real estate legal complaint. However it is revealed that the voice on the call was not his, and Neil claims there was an intruder watching from a tree. Skin is found there, and the DNA is that of dodgy P.I. Kurt Rossi, who was hired by Michael to prove widow Lucy Maddox's alleged adultery, which she calls paranoia. She suspects Michael's hedge fund business partner Peter Cullen. Paint on Michael's car proves his car was involved in a collision with that of Charlie Decker, who is forced to admit that he is Lucy's lover. The caller was female, the line rigged by neighbor Danny to Cullen's office, his assistant phoned the SWAT - and is found shot in her car. When the new (post-Woods) MPD pathologist arrives and thinks Ortega is still breathing, the CSI team is shot at, she instantly killed and replaced by Dr. Thomas Wellner. At the apartment he fell from a blood stain is found from ATF agent Evan Caldwell, who claims Manny was a rogue informer on illegal ammo trade. Ammo supplier Brad Gower claims to hand-check every bullet under a lucrative 'discrete' deal with Uncle Sam, but it turns out to be an illegal, explosive type. After his confessions he too is shot. Caldwell provides Manny's client list, which includes Julia's new husband Ron Saris, so Horatio convinces her to take their disappointed son Kyle in safety abroad, but he neglected one revenge warning too many.
