Just when Horatio's former firearms forensics assistant Jesse Cardoza returns to transfer from LAPD back to Miami Dade, he and civilian CSI staff are taken hostage by a man, who visited the building all week under the alias Tom Wells, a desperate divorcee and failed businessman. He's later identified as Mathew Sloan, after wounding a hostage, demanding $100,000 from a specific cash shop and switching places with Jesse to escape, leaving the cash behind. Chad Bowen survives, unlike beach volley ball mates Troy Billings, Randal and Peter Markham, a massive current suddenly electrocuting them during the wealthy Dean and Hailey Collins's annual beach volleyball tournament. The boys had little in common, except one night stands with a single cougar, who turns out the mother of one's steady girlfriend. Investment broker Howard Burgess's body is found in the toilet of his unpaid private jet when Tony Connor's incorrect repo attempt fails. His embezzlement ruined many Miami households, including that of family father Carlos Guzman, who is arrested for attacking Howard's widow and presumed heir-accomplice. Their adolescent son Daniel Burgess also was on the plane, and lies about meeting his dad. A second plane repo attempt is ordered by the owner and investment victim Gary Archer, unlike the first. Eric is back on the job. When Lucy dies of sudden poisoning, the first suspect is her fiancé Ethan Durant. While the team traces her fatal e. coli infection to the greens supplier, Sheldon Parks's firm, Ethan enters a toxic coma himself, but his germ terms out to be botulism. Jesse's field team has to use alternative methods to work out the infection, absent from the fields, stems from irrigation water. Miami would-be-model Ashley Tanner was murdered, as turns out carved up alive. She was tricked by fake agent Jimmy Burris, a ruthless pimp. The MO corresponds with a murder in Las Vegas, except another limb was severed. So CSI Dr. Ray Langston flies over to collaborate on the investigation. The instrument, a professional meat cleaver, is traced to butchery chain owner Nathan Cole, who is linked to Burris trough the vicious Zeta Boys gang. Businessman Victor Emparo reports a car crash which kills driver Karen Emparo, not teenage passenger kid Greg and Lily. Yet nothing is what it seemed, e.g. the other car was technically stolen by Victor's sister Marta from her ex, to whom he was returning it. There host, firm Renovation Warehouse custodial Jeff Lofton, falls into a basin of lethally poisonous, predatory jellyfish, beyond help. Teenager Kevin Hensler is arrested driving like mad in the sports car of his passenger, who managed to escape: known drug dealer Carl Benson, whom he swears forced him at gunpoint. In the trunk is the corpse of census taker Christian Perez, who had no enemies and didn't die from his profuse head-wounds but from rat poison. Ryan and Natalia are nearly killed by a boobytrap in Kevin's broke father's former house, which turns out to be the drug lab where Kevin made meth for Benson. Her new research assistant is none other then former CSI Eric Delko. At first it seems a shut case, then evidence points to his innocence and the known, previously unidentified 'Night Stalker', who demands breakfast from his victims, including survivor Ellen Stafford. A motor-biker chases social studies teacher Russell Turner and cuts him in two with a samurai sword. The fatal katana is found at his home, wielded by his gentle, terrified adopted son Kenny. He found his dad's body but fled, having been previously told to hide for his life. DNA confirms Kenny is sakuru (Japanese mob) lord Takashi Yamada's biological son, born as Yoshi. Drug-dealing Dr. James Bradstone was on death row 15 years for the knife-murder of his wife nurse Sarah and pre-teen daughter Caitlin. Her only son Todd survived but was knocked down and saw nothing. Now the key witness, old neighbor Louise Russo, reveals on TV that she lied at the instigation of prosecutor Evan Talbot. The governor wants the new evidence within 24 hours before overturning the death sentence. Delco discovers Jesse, then a uniformed rookie, was also manipulated by Talbot to alter Louise's declaration. Todd remembers his mother was abused by the killer. A carjacker is nearly killed by an Icarus Joe crashing down from the sky, and his physiognomy suggest from space above the atmosphere. Only Keith Palmer's company provides space travel from Miami, which identifies Icarus as client Sam Gardner, missing since the ten days $2,000,000 space-trip, but denies losing him in flight. During porn king Tony Enright's satanic party, guest Leslie Stoltz is murdered and her friend Anna Kitson, his partner, drugged and raped. Alas Jesse planted a bug because of a feud from his L.A. days, which compromises the investigation, which points to Tony's even more arrogant bodyguard, former Dolphins star Cooper 'Coop' Daly. Horatio realizes it's time to clear Jesse, who apparently disposed of the key evidence in Tony's top-lawyer Darren Vogel's defense for the L.A. murder of Tony's wife. Working from different crime scenes, the team puzzles it all together as the victims -hard to identify- turn out to be friends from a single college. Real estate agent Ben Rooney is fatally shot during a hold-up by two masked robbers as he was negotiating the price of exquisite engagement ring. The culprits cleverly escape with a fortune in diamonds on motorbikes, driving into a waiting van, but dump the diamonds. FBI undercover agent Jake Berkeley drove the van, but hadn't found out their identity. A jailed fence explains that diamonds are individually traceable, but the not the gold setting. Calleighly followed Delko to his meeting with Florida state attorney, Rebecca Nevins, in Asher Business park. Eric was far enough away to remain unharmed when Nevin's car explodes and kills her. He explains to Horatio he had discovered that besides the diamonds, the $500,000 of heroin confiscated in John 'Sully' Sullivan's 2006 Everson case, is missing from inventory. The cellphone-detonated ANFO fuel bomb was in a neighboring car that MPD-impounded after a 2008 bank robbery. It was requisitioned months ago by narcotics undercover detective Steven Carmichael to investigate lifer Tino Garvez, who claims he killed Carmichael. The bomb contained golf cart parts, trade mark of Nevins-deal-convicted repairman Drew Pollack. The bomb car GPS starts a series of cop incriminations with grim effects. Written by KGF Vissers

Jesse and colleagues receive an anonymous letter containing pieces of a murder scene and target's photograph, made by the left-behind remote control weapon's visor. Eric returns to CSI full-time. The victim's widower receives the clue to a next murder. The prime suspect was exposed by the first victim for cheating in a Dade university research project and fired by a panel. The panel seems to have comprised the other targets, one of which is chemically burned while under Boavista's protection. But she has a perfect alibi and the last crime strikes CSI HQ.
