The Daleks have begun their transformation to humanoid form however the human-Dalek hybrid, Dalek Sec, is raising doubts among the remaining three machine Daleks. He is showing human traits and emotions: he changes his mind, shows compassion by sparing some of the transients in Hooverville and to the consternation of the machine Daleks, suggests their old ways were wrong. The Doctor brings Martha home but decides to stay on when he hears that that very evening, a scientist will reveal a discovery that will forever change mankind. The 72-year old Dr. Lazarus host a lavish party, organized by Matha's sister Tish, to unveil his new machine. He enters it and a few moments later - with only a slight hiccup rectified by the Doctor - emerges as a young man. Everyone is amazed but the Doctor soon realize that the younger Dr. Lazarus has had his genetic code scrambled and is now a beastly creature. Meanwhile, Martha and Tish's Mum is also at the reception and not pleased that Martha has taken up with this strange man who doesn't seem to have a name. They involve an alien time traveler who calls himself the Doctor who journeys through time and space in a blue box, picking up numerous companions along the way. But he wonders if it's all really just the dream. As John and Joan's feelings become more and more apparent is there more to Martha's concerns over Mr. Smith than just mere infatuation? The Doctor and Martha arrive in present day Cardiff to refuel the TARDIS and are inexplicably thrust to a distant planet 100 trillion years into the future. When they arrive they realize they have an unexpected passenger in Captain Jack Harkness who has been patiently waiting for the Doctor's return since the mid-19th century. On the planet they eventually meet Professor Yana who is running the 1000-year old Utopia project, the aim of which is to relocate the human-like creatures to a new planet, away from the outsiders who they fear they will become if they don't leave. When Prof. Yana has need of someone to make repairs in a room in which no one can survive, the Doctor has the perfect candidate. The Professor is not what he seems to be however and Martha notices he has a fob watch much like one the Doctor recently made use of. Written by garykmcd

With the Master having regenerated himself and taken the TARDIS, the Doctor, Martha and Jack Harkness manage to return to Earth. When they arrive, they see the new British Prime Minister, Harold Saxon, on television and Martha immediately recognizes his voice: it's the regenerated Master. He announces that he has been contacted by alien beings and that they will arrive in two days' time. Despite an attempt by the American President to take over the situation, the Master is very much in charge. Martha Jones secretly returns to England. It's been a year since the Master took over the Earth and launched the invasion. Humans are now a captive race and the Toclafane are building a fleet of rockets they will use to attack other worlds. The Master takes great pleasure in humiliating the Doctor and has Martha's family doing menial chores. Martha has a plan however and all she has to do in get in to see the Master.
