Alicia attempts to revive her struggling law career by representing arrestees seeking release on bail in bond court, where she meets attorney Lucca Quinn, who competes for her clients. Also, Peter brings in national strategist Ruth Eastman to help with his presidential campaign, and creates an interesting dynamic with Eli in the process.

Alicia takes the case of a young man seeking to stop the museum display of nude photos taken by his mother when he was a child. Her practice grows with Lucca joining the case, and the firm interviews new investigators. Carey continues to try and renew the face of his aging law firm but runs into trouble with Howard. So Alicia takes the company to court and they make all sorts of fuss. Alicia learns from Jason that there was no theft at the company so the polygraph was baseless. They then raise the issue that because the company has dealings with the government that they are within their right to have polygraph tests. Alicia then seeks out her former client who worked at the NSA for help. And this brings her to the attention of the NSA. Eli is told by Ruth that Alicia needs to be with Peter when he announces his bid for the Presidency. Eli considers airing something that could derail his chances. Alicia and Lucca defend a well-respected surgeon accused of plotting to commit a crime. Also, Ruth schemes to remove Jason from Alicia's life by trying to persuade Courtney Paige (Vanessa Williams) to hire him for business in another state.

Alicia travels Peter's presidential campaign team in Iowa to persuade voters. Jackie found out Howard is holding great amount of money out of her knowledge, when two are trying to set up a prenuptial agreement. Lockhart Agos Lee is under investigation by FEPA regarding a discriminatory hiring practice.

Matthew Lillard is adding an upbeat charm to the cast of The Good Wife by playing the role of Rowby Canton. Rowby is a music artist who gets his inspiration from anything and anyone and is now being inspired by the charming Lucca Quinn. Rowby is being sued by his former Record Label who insist that Rowby broke his contract by using a song that they claim was written when he was still under contract with them. Rowby claims that he is innocent of all allegations and therefore is legally in the right to play his song on social media networks. Alicia and Lucca team up with Cary to defend Rowby against the record label that is bullying him. In the meantime Eli is trying to unsuccessfully make amends with Alicia. Alicia returns to Lockhart, Agos et all. When she arrives, the firm's IT man is arrested by some peculiar Feds. The man apparently took a photo of a new device created by Chum Hum, so they want him to reveal how he got it. Alicia learns that Chum Hum owner Neil Gross is pulling strings. Cary for some reason assigns Lucca to another thing leaving Alicia all alone. As the grand jury against Peter Florrick is assembled, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Connor Fox (Matthew Morrison) leading the proceedings, Alicia, Eli and Peter's lawyer, Mike Tascioni (Will Patton), attempt to discover what charges are being leveled against him. Also, Alicia and Jason attempt to spend a quiet weekend together but are interrupted by her meddling family.

Diane, Cary and Lucca defend the grieving father of a shooting victim (Blair Underwood) in a defamation suit over a billboard he put up describing a gun store owner as a murderer. Also, a romantic rendezvous between Alicia and Jason is interrupted when Alicia learns that Grace is being accused of plagiarizing her college entrance essay.

Alicia and Diane defend the privacy rights of a therapist whose neighbor, represented by attorney Caitlyn D'Arcy (Anna Camp), flies a drone over his home office. Also, Assistant U.S. Attorney Connor Fox (Matthew Morrison) attempts to use Eli's daughter, Marissa, as leverage in the case against Peter, and the power struggle at Lockhart, Agos and Lee reaches a boiling point.

Alicia and Lucca travel to Toronto to represent NSA Agent Jeff Delinger who was detained by customs officers while attempting to re-enter the United States. Also, Diane grows concerned when her husband, Kurt McVeigh, decides to retire and sell his business to Holly Westfall, a rival business owner, and Peter contemplates an uncertain future when he faces possible arrest.

Alicia's night goes from bad to worse when she throws a party to celebrate Howard and Jackie's upcoming wedding. Also, Eli asks Jason to investigate Peter in preparation for his trial.

Peter looks like he's in big trouble as his trial progresses,and some old friends are placed in difficult situations. Diane faces unexpected opposition from David Lee as the new firm moves forward.

Peter has little time left to make a plea deal before the jury comes back with a verdict. Meanwhile, Alicia must decide whether her future is with Peter or with Jason, and she channels the ghost of Will Gardner to help make a decision.
